Among the many bands he's been a part of, one of the most significant was Sons of the Desert, with whom he recorded two demos and one full-length CD between 1990 and 1994. This period marked a highlight in his musical career, as he shared the stage with both rising and established acts.

His journey with Sons of the Desert took him to some of the most iconic stages in the Netherlands, including Eland Delft, Paard in Den Haag, OLS Den Haag, Tivoli Utrecht (the original venue), and Paradiso Amsterdam. Born and raised in The Hague, Richard Jansen has been drumming since he was a kid, developing a deep passion for rhythm and groove from an early age. With a natural feel for dynamic playing and an energetic style, he quickly became a sought-after drummer in the local rock scene.

Richard made his mark as the driving force behind Batcrab, a hard-hitting rock band known for its raw sound and intense live shows. His powerful yet precise drumming helped shape their music, earning him a reputation as a solid and versatile musician.

Now, Richard has joined Active Transport, bringing his experience, creativity, and relentless energy to the mix. With his background and deep love for rock music, he adds a fresh pulse to the band’s sound, pushing it to new heights.

With his signature style and stage presence, Patrick Jansen is ready to take the next step—delivering high-energy performances and making every beat count.

Meet Niels,

Niels Ypenburg, the backbone of our band’s rhythm section, brings a rich musical history rooted in funk and cover bands. With a deep groove and smooth technique, Niels' playing is the pulse that holds everything together. His experience in funk has gifted him an innate sense of rhythm and feel, allowing him to lock in with the drums and create dynamic, danceable bass lines that give our music its drive.

Since the very beginning of our band, Niels has been a core member, shaping our sound with his steady presence and musical versatility. His passion for bass playing and dedication to the band have made him an irreplaceable part of our journey, as we continue to create and perform together.
